At first I thought Proud Mary was inappropriate for Tina since that was a hit when Ike was still making her a hit with his fist.
I would think they should have done a song after she went independent and solo which would have reflected the words of the tribute Opie gave her moments before the song.
(Notice how Opie left out her abusive past?)
Then I looked it up and saw that Tina still performed PM as Tina.
So maybe it was OK but I still don't think it was the right song to do as a tribute to her.
Esp. since it was a cover song that was a hit for someone else.

I guess they wanted to perform one of her most famous songs, and maybe they thought Tina would've wanted them to perform something upbeat?
On a related note, "The Hollywood Reporter" didn't even know the name of the song!

That is what I think too.
Something to bring the house down because her solo stuff, as well as all the other tribute songs, were more like ballads.

Yeah, the others might've seemed out of place.
I was surprised Jimmy Buffet barely got any recognition.

Did you notice the goof when they started to play him during the Steve tribute to Tony?
Then when they didn't come back to it for awhile I thought that was it!
And was glad to hear another song besides that one of his they play to death.

lol, I missed that last night because I didn't see the very beginning Stevie's performance. I just rewatched the In Memoriam segment and saw that.
Yeah, it's kind of surprising they didn't play Margaritaville. At least he did get a slightly longer solo segment, as opposed to being quickly flashed by for two seconds like most people were (some of the people who did only get two seconds should've had longer segments, since they were spending so long on a few select people in the In Memoriam).
It's still weird to me to see people happily dancing to the upbeat music during an In Memoriam segment.

You missed the most obvious tidbit, Lana Del Rey was completely screwed over yet again.

Why, who won when you thought she should've won?

She should have nabbed Song of the Year for A&W, as well as Alternative Album of the Year.
Even Taylor knows the Grammys are robbing Lana, she's been talking her up for years.

I don't really know her music, but I noticed you're an Eagles fan, so you must know what you're talking about. Is One of These Nights your favorite Eagles song?

Well thanks, I don't get many people who think I know what I'm talking about!
Her music has been described as "60s Hollywood", it's quite beautiful and sad, doesn't really lend itself to radio play…which is why the Grammys hate her. They can yap about "the art" all they want, but it's really a popularity contest. As far as my signature, that song is right up there towards the top, yeah…I saw an interview with the late Glenn Frey, he said it's his favorite that they sang. I chose that particular line as my signature because it's basically been the story of my life.
I've been searching for the daughter of the Devil himself, I've been searching for an angel in white.

Yeah, some guy (I can't remember who he was, lol) was on CNN last night and said some artists, such as Taylor Swift, wouldn't be as popular without the internet.
Aww. That actually is my favorite Eagles song. "Take It to the Limit" is my second favorite.
