Beyonce does not deserve all those Grammys

Beyonce has definitely matured as an artist. Lemonade is actually a good album and she's finally learned how to deliver a nuanced vocal performance (ie no caterwauling). The album/songs are actually about something too. I'll say if she's nominated for Lemonade, well, bravo.

Caterwauling us why I prefer groups like Tangerine Dream, who largely dispense with vocals. However when they did use vocal, it was rad.

I'm neutral on Adele. But I agree with you on Beyonce and I've used the same term myself for her vocal style: "caterwauling".

Adele is fine.
But Beyoncé doesn't write her own music, she's just a performer. And like I asked before, isn't she the one that got busted lip synching at Obama's inauguration? Gaga would never do something like that.
I don't know any of her music other than random bits here and there, but I don't get the appeal at all. She's not all that.
I don't see her as a "musician" as much as a "performance artist."

Rihanna is a good example. Now that woman does quality stuff, unlike Beyonce. I don't listen to much Rihanna but she is a true artist.

Well think about that for a moment. That bitch has been adamantly saying Beyonce doesn't write her own lyrics or produces her own music and that Beyonce is not a true artist but rather a "performer".
Seems kind of ignorant to be so sure of something she actually knows nothing about. And it is not the first time she has made such accusations towards Beyonce even after she was told it wasn't true.
I don't think anything is necessarily wrong with being a performer. Actors, dancers, some muscians are performers as well. Should we criticize actors for not being screenwriters, muscians for not writing their own music (like the muscians of concert bands), or dancers for dancing to someone else's choreography? -

The superstar had not spoken publicly since it was alleged that she lip-synched at the inauguration last week. Her critically praised performance came under scrutiny less than a day later when a representative from the US Marine Band said she wasn't singing live and the band's accompanying performance was taped.
Shortly after, the group backed off its initial statement and said no one could tell if she was singing live or not.
Then there's this, when she got busted lip-synching at Obama's inauguration. Interesting how when the Marine Band commented on it, shortly after that, they backed off on calling her out about it.
She's not
all that

Yes, she's written "some" of her songs, especially earlier on in her career according to what I just googled. But as was also indicated, she has a team of writers for the majority of her songs.
She's more of a "performer" as opposed to what I'd consider a "singer" and definitely not a "musician."

— 6 years ago(June 21, 2019 09:33 PM)Not everyone is Prince and can do it all. Beyoncé is a good singer, GREAT dancer and a GREAT performer. Sometimes that’s all you need.
There are people who are more versatile than her but because they aren’t as dynamic in performance they will never equal her in popularity. That’s the way the cookie crumbles. The entertainment industry is not and never will be fair.

I'm also a fan of old school rock, grunge, blues or punk, and I'm not a fan of (most) pop or this "new" rap because of autotune. Everything has this whiney pitch to it, and the producers are really just looking for entertainers. They can essentially turn
anyone
into a so-called "pop star" if they can be manipulated for an
image
, they'll be a good performer. But that's what they are: performers, not musicians.
I totally understand style over substance, and that's what she is in spades. I fully acknowledge that. I just personally don't think she's anything special.
I guess I look at someone like Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga and I see not only performers who have style, but they're
also
so involved in all aspects of their music. They write AND put on a wild and crazy show. That's as close to "pop" as I generally get.
I know it's my own taste, my opinion, as I'd rather see Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Korn, Tool, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, Godsmack,….I don't really care about flashing lights with pyrotechnics, and backup dancers, outfit changes and gimmicks to enjoy a show. What I'd give to see Led Zeppelin!
PS: The exception to pyrotechnics would be Rammstein!
