The short story? George Balanchine.
Pretty much. He was racist and influential. The dark girls would never be accepted as principal ballerinas in his time and those who came directly after.
Society had changed rapidly since his time in history.
#2 ballet training is expensive. Not many black parents can afford it for their children.
#3 Ballet extremely difficult to master. You also have to have the right body type and feet.
#4 Ballet is highly competitive.
I blame the great artistic director/ ballet choreographer, George Balanxhine.
I'm not going into details about who Balanchine is. You'll have to Google him if you have never heard of the man before.
So….according to Balanchine, the ballet dancer's skin MUST BE THE COLOR OF A FRESH PEELED APPLE.
Nikisha's skin color is that of a peeled apple.
The reason i am ESTACTIC ABOUT NIKISHA is because SHE IS BLACK AND PERFECT AT THIS.
MISTY COPLAND WAS AVERSGE AT BALLET BUT HYPED BECAUSE SHE WAS A BLACK FEMALE.

They don't dance the classics like The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, La Bayadère , Apollo, La Sylphide , Romeo and Juliet…
I was first exposed to classical ballet so that is my preference, my passion.
I do enjoy all other forms of dance EXCEPT MODERN DANCIBG LIKE WHAT YOU SEE OF THAT SERIES -
