Why is the size of DVD files so small??

The DVD image isn't encoded as some kind of tiny window. DVD might be crap compared to blu ray but it still looks pretty good on my 40" HDTV, let alone a computer monitor. Without knowing the specs of your computer it's impossible to tell but perhaps you need a better graphics card or need to change the screen output resolution?

That is my question, why does it look good on the tv but not on the computer? My video and graphics card works fine, the screen is a decent size. When you open the dvd unless you choose full screen it's going to open the file on its actual size and it is very small, it's the size of the movie.

Maybe check the settings on your playback software to make sure it matches the screen resolution. It might be set to display everything at original resolution and if it's an HD monitor it won't be upscaling the DVD image to take full advantage of the pixel ratio.

Old thread but I will comment anyway.
DVD files are so small compared to BluRay because they hold less information.
They will only look good on TV's if the actual DVD is good. (or if the tv is small and ****)
Most people would prefer a HD BluRay rip/remux at 720p or 1080p & for DVD's most people prefer a rip rather than ISO/ VOB IFO to save space.
Most popular now is codec x264 & container MKV.
