    I've never seen the movie, but I'm planning to watch it once I finish. Lady Chablis is one of the most interesting people so far. I like how the author spent 150+ pages getting to know Savannah before really getting to the point.
    Eastwood probably wouldn't have been my choice for director. Dark humor isn't typically his forte.

        I liked it, for the most part. It compresses a lot of information from the book, but I feel like it captured the vibe reasonably well.

            Inside the Russian Revolution by Rheta Childe Dorr. She means the February Revolution because she wrote the book before the October Revolution. She's quite critical of Lenin and the Bolsheviks. Calls them German agents.

              Interesting! I read John Reed's book on the October Revolution several years ago.

                I think every opinion Reed and Dorr had about what was happening in Russia were probably polar opposites. Unless Emma Goldman correctly interpreted Reed's deathbed ramblings about being disillusioned with the Bolsheviks.

                    Breaking the Dark was a fun read, nothing earth-shattering. Starting this one now:

                      So I didn't plan far enough ahead for the snow storm and ran out of reading material 😔 Then I remembered that my local library has Hoopla! 😍 Reading through Ta-Nehisi Coates' Black Panther comics. So far, they're a bit light on action and heavy on political machinations, as if Coates wanted to make Wakanda into his version of Westeros or King Conan (not surprising given his background). But I'm really digging the artwork:
                      @Loki

                      • In case you decide to read these someday (and Coates also did a Captain America run I may look into 🤔)
                        @Booger!
                      • Are you familiar with Hoopla? You access it through your library card, if your local library is signed up. They have tons and tons of Conan comics!

                        I am not familiar but it looks like my Library has it…will definitely check it out!
                        Thank for the suggestion 🙂👍

                          So I just finished this one, which I highly recommend:
                          Alongside it, I read this, which was quite interesting:
                          I'm now beginning these:

                            I highly, highly recommend both
                            My Cousin Rachel
                            and
                            Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees
                            ! I wish I could say the same about this book, which I read after them:
                            While there is certainly plenty to admire about it, it ultimately lacked cohesion and wasn't very interesting.
                            I'm now reading the second of the Department Q novels:
