In the long run it would serve you well to not make assumptions about people and act like a condescending twat. Go peddle your b.s. somewhere else.
See? You've already taken my advice and are now doling out a helping of your own. At this rate you'll be thinking for yourself in no time.

If your kids are looking up to movies and the people in them for guidance that is a problem and the fault of the parents. You should be their heroes and teach them who the real heroes are out in the world. Your question has nothing to do with religion. It is a people thing no matter what God we do or don't believe in.
It depends upon the age of the child. You don't allow impressionable children to be indoctrinated into ideas which are opposed to the values you're teaching them. Once you have given them a firm basis on ethics, when they're a teenager, they're free to explore. But if I was a Christian no way would I let a 10-year-old think sorcery is fun and fine when the Bible says sorcerers should be put to death. Do you not see the glaring contradiction? Stand for something for chrissakes.

No one is talking about letting little ones be exposed to anything. I just assumed we were talking older kids.
10-year-olds read Harry Potter. I would let my ten-year-old read Harry Potter. But I support any Christian who doesn't want their children to read it.

What about movies which glorifying adultery? There are plenty of those. Should Christian kids be indoctrinated by Hollywood that adultery is sexy and glamorous? Media has a strong influence on viewers. I wouldn't let my kids watch homophobic trash. And I don't expect Christians to let their kids watch movies which glamorize adultery and sorcery.
I think you’re playing a bit of devil’s advocate here. Yes media has influence and we would all be naive to think it doesn’t. The bottom line is , it’s not the media’s responsibility to protect the sensibilities of your kids.
The only people responsible for teaching children morals are their parents.

Of course, and I don't want media dumbed down to the level of a child. Yes, teach your children morals but don't let them turn on a movie after you're done and contradict everything you just told them. This stuff is not rocket science.

Donna, you're ignorant if you think any Christians are gonna read that and stop their children from reading Harry Potter. There are already Bible-beating fundies who condemn Harry Potter. The Christians who have heard this million times and just ignore it as extremist nonsense will just keep on ignoring it.
No seriously. I know Christians that consider reading Harry Potter a sin and do not allow their children to read it. They also don't celebrate Halloween either. The "sinners" who attend church are another story altogether because they aren't fully Christians yet. I'm technically still considered a "sinner". I'll watch a Harry Potter movie. I've watched all of them so far.

Also, a lot of the Harry Potter stuff is geared towards adults now, since the kids who grew up reading it when it first came out are in their 20s and 30s now.

                                        LOL this is great.
I have had many discussions with parents who allowed their children to explore this dark world. I can understand people who don't know the Bible letting their kids get involved. They think of the Harry Potter stories innocent fantasies. But Christians who understand God's condemnation of witchcraft, which is prominent throughout the Bible, should know better.
I had a friend who wanted to read the books and watch the movies so bad but her parents wouldn't let her so she had to sneak to do it. They ended up finding out and busted her ass for it. They were crazy when it came to that ****, she wasn't even allowed watching Hocus Pocus!
