Pleasure drives on the death impulse, it has no boundings, it is not free.
On the other hand, desire has got a decent throttle, it is not greedy. Hence, it is free.
Pleasure works with a + symbol and it results into addiction.
Desire works with the - symbol, and in the bottom line opens the door into summer.

Mine is neither a royal court nor a harem.
I enjoy having what Umberto Eco called an antilibrary, a huge collection of books I have not read, as I kind of back-up or alternative hard drive to my own experiences and memory stores. I buy books faster than I can read them, and give none away until I feel I have exhausted their content (which is rare). I'd guess I've only read about 10-15% of the books I own.
I have many reasons for this, but chiefly it's to avoid falling prey to the Dunning-Kroger affect. Whenever I step into my study, I am reminded of how much I have not read, how much I do not know. My personal engagement with literature is therefore akin to the Red Queen in Alice, who must keep running faster and faster just to stay in the same place.
Or, like Socrates, I try to achieve wisdom by remaining aware of my own ignorance. -

Is is universal that libraries should keep books that have been read allready ?
(There is a huge stack of things that are sent by editors but never interested people, in the archives of the university. Reeks of dust. )
I am not sure about the reverent Dogson's book

The last element of the list is movies, and the list is meant to put a light light on the subject as well as to emphazise the fact that books do not belong to the substitutes.

Well, there is nothing against favoritism with movies in the op.
Once someone wrote in the late magazine 20 ans that substitute for sex were:
Cooking ( drawback : smelling french fries)
House keeping (drawback : unhappy neighbours)
Smoking (same drawback as 1, not the same fragance)
Drugs (drawback : watch picture. One koala with big red eyes)
Yoga (drawback : one has to sleep wih the guru, which implies dried vomit and other joys)
Alcohol (drawback : same as yoga)
Sport (drawback : muscles)
And last, but not least, movie watching (drawback : tend to end up in binge watching three movies in one evening, and knowing the name of every director, light artist and its dog
)
So, you see that analogy of yours, while probably well humored, is not all that accurate.
It is okay to have favorite movies, especially provided they are worth it and one does not overdo it.
But books do not fit into this, do they ?
How come ?
Books are spiritual, favorites are sex toys, basically. Nothing spiritual in that end. (The last "gentleman" who tried to be spiritual that way with me in the bus is still waiting for the court sentence. It might have been less cruel to poach his eye, now, he was warned
