She's very disillusioned about this camp money and imagines she's going to strike it rich, and get millions of dollars. She doesn't understand how a class action lawsuit works. I don't think she even has retained a lawyer. I don't even know if she even qualifies. If she even does qualify, if she even does get paid, if she even does get money, I don't think she has a realistic expectation of just how much she may get once it's divided among all the claimants
and their family members
who've applied
over a 35-year period of time.

This is precisely why I've
consistently
questioned her about working with a social worker,
in person
, someone who will oversee what she's doing, so she doesn't get herself into this kind of trouble. I know that's not what she
wants
. Just like she doesn't
want
to eat healthy. But what she
wants
to do is going to end up killing her or landing her on the streets without a roof over her head.

I looked at a few sites, and they said some people could receive a million or more; but I assume it's only if they're directly affected and not the children of the people who became severely ill. (Maybe not, but none of the sites I looked at specified if the amounts were for relatives too or only for the people who became sick.)
It is hard to imagine the average Camp Lejeune settlement being less than $250,000. Yes, there will be weaker cases that lack merit that will get smaller compensation. But there will also be settlements in Parkinsonโs disease and other serious cases where the settlements exceed $1 million.
How many Camp Lejeune lawsuits will be filed? Estimates range from 50,000 to 500,000.
The answer to how many water contamination lawsuits we will see lies somewhere in the middle.
There will not be 500,000 viable Camp Lejeune claims. If there were 500,000 claims with an average Camp Lejeune settlement of $300,000, that would be $150 billion. There is no chance of that.
A lot of claims will just be denied/dismissed.
When the CLJA was going through Congress, the CBO estimated that compensation payments on Camp Lejeune claims under the CLJA would result in about $22 billion in government spending.
Based on information from other attorneys and reports from the Tort Claims Unit at JAG, it looks like the total number of Camp Lejeune claims could be around 100,000-200,000. There will be some attrition and a large percentage of these claims will be denied, dismissed, or devalued.
Based on that number (100,000 claims), however, $22 billion would equal $220,000 per claimant. At 200,000 (claims), it would be $110,000 per person. -

it's nice to dream and fantasize, but reality must always be what controls our lives. maybe Lejeune payoff will be HUGE!! maybe it will be what wildman seems to think: $1000?
but why do you christina think your settlement will be large? the timeframe for this lawsuit spans 30+ years. the potential size of the plaintiffs is well into the low 10,000s- or more.maybe the 100,000s. also, these lawfirms handling the case work, get payed first; whatever's left goes to the "victims."
dont make decisions about money/finances based upon some future possibility of Lejeune paying you. you have no control over the outcome.the only good thing is that these firms dont get paid up front by the client-you.
