More like demanded to see my receipt. She said, "Sir, I need to see your receipt."

That happened to me a couple weeks ago. I had several bags in my cart. The worker asked to see my receipt and a few other customers' receipts. But she said "You're ok" to another customer who only had one bag, meaning she didn't need to see his receipt. I think that was the only time I was asked to show my receipt there.

I walked out of a department store the other day, and the alarm went off. I had my stuff in a bag, all paid for. The staff were apologetic, because I'd only just gone through the checkout, and it was obvious I hadn't picked anything else up. Turns out, the bargain top that I'd just bought, had to have its tag CUT out, to stop it beeping.
Still a nasty feeling when all eyes are on you though.
