I am currently in university studying towards a degree in finance and accounting management so I will be working somewhere in that field in the future.
My question is directed towards the hiring policies of graduates in my field (most interested in Big Four and investment banks):
I am wondering if it is possible to defer the start of your employment after graduation for about 8 months or so? As in I do all the interviews and assessment centers, get my offer but then start work 8 months later.
The thing is that I have to do compulsory military service in my home country (but I am studying in the UK) after I graduate and it lasts for about 8 months. Are employers flexible when it comes to something like this?

Thanks, that is good to hear. Though I am not at all interested in working in the public sector. Private only.
