I see the point of smartwatches, but the ones like Patrick wears cost more than a smartwatch and don't do **** but tell time.
It's a status symbol.

Because some people don’t like to carry a bulky cell phone around in their pockets. I don’t. But when you’re out and about, say in your yard, you still might have the need to know the time.
Some watches have lots of features. Some of them possibly life saving, if you were in specific situations; say, a wilderness trekker.
Did you know that you can use an analog watch as a crude compass to tell direction? No. You didn’t know that, Bombay Barbie.

Most people have cell phones on them at all times. You can just as easily keep your phone in your pocket in your yard.
Most people aren't wilderness trekkers, and those are specialized watches for specialized situations.
You can also use positioning of the sun. We're talking everyday use here.
