Lately I have noticed a problem I didn't have before. I have a DVD-VCR combo player. When I watch DVD's or videocassettes, I have to switch my Source button on my TV remote from Component to Cable. (That's because I get Hi-def channels on TV, and my connections are set up that way.) But lately, when I do that, and turn on my DVD player, the DVD player menu does not come up. And while some discs go to the disc menu as soon as I pop them in, others don't and I have to try something else. My solution, which always works, is to switch to the VCR option and put in a videocassette. That always automatically brings up the disc menu as well as the player menu. But why does this happen?
We have had several power outages over the last month or so because of the weather. Could this have affected my player?

Is it just certain DVD's or just one particular one? I am asking this because some Disney DVD's have a thing called FastPlay which would skip the main menu and go straight into the movie. You could still go back to the main menu and look at the bonus features, the FastPlay only works when the disc is first inserted into the player.
