Do you like clam cakes?

I have a weird feeling that if I were to like it for the same reason that I like tempura. I'm convinced that anything deep fried is just a sure way to make food palatable. Generally speaking, I can't stand clams, especially clam bellies! Deep fried strips are another thing all together, however. That being said, a lot of fried food tends to taste similar.
Not sure I could eat a whole clam cake, or a sandwich of same. I find them to be a bit on the rubbery, chewy side. Even when I have clam chowder, I leave the clams and just eat the broth and potatoes. (Often with crushed oyster crackers in the bowl).
Living by the sea, I am so fortunate to have access to an abundance of seafood (and riverbed food). I can't wrap my mind (and technically, my gullet) around the idea of ingesting these critters.

Me too! I
love
hush puppies. There's a restaurant that I go to that serves a vast basket of hush puppies and little corn breads. They're both so yummy! I often full up on those and then take the main dish home!
See the smart thing to do is stuff my mouth with them, and then take my entree and side dishes home with me lol

When I have clam chowder, I tend to eat all the chowder, especially the potatoes, and while I like the flavour, I tend to leave the clams behind. Sand.
