Street food is everything you want; fast, clean and cheap
A chippie should be a convenience, not a hoity-toity effort

Being coastal, we've always had some of those really handy "seafood shacks". Quite often, they would go out and catch fish for the day. Nothing being "farmed".
I always felt fish & chips was most enjoyable when served in newspaper. Lots of malt vinegar on the chips.

Fish and chips with a riverside walk is what's been good for me Lilith
If you're at the beach I'm guessing a promenade walk would be even better
Where I am vinegar is the thing to have with fish and chips, but a mere 40 miles away they have a 'sauce' instead of vinegar. It's quite vinegary but it makes a point of being called 'sauce'.
Fights have been had over which is the best thing to add to chips

At Scully's you can get catch-of-the-day. It's fresh grouper, slightly breaded, sauteed to a golden brown in lemon butter and shallots… with a teasing hint of Dijon.

You forgot the original, and the best of them all. H. Salt Esq. Fish & Chips. It was the only one when I was a kid. Founded by an authentic Limey. The other’s just copied him.
Haddon Salt, born October 18, 1928, in Stanfree, Derbyshire, England, emigrated with his wife and three children to California in 1964 with US$10,000.[5]
"I decided to bring the business here because all the tourists told me if they had fish and chips in America like I cooked them, I'd have a great business"
.[6] Salt opened "Salt's English Fish & Chips Shop" in Sausalito, California, in 1965

Cold comfort for change? Did you exchange
A walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

I remember that place. We had one in a mall. I liked it.

It's still in Cleveland and is making a comeback in Columbus. I haven't eaten there in years…I try to stay away from deepfried.
Holy ****…my wife showed me a pic of me when I was rotund…I honestly didn't recognize myself!

The image looks really familiar to me. I must've seen them around before, but I don't think I've ever been inside one.

probably some local pub that none of us know about
                          if we're talking franchise/chain restaurants, i'd say Culver's.
