After a while the “commitment” part goes away and it becomes a part of you-not something you have to “try” to do anymore.

You’re correct about that; and it’s pretty much the same with most changes in our daily routines, as it just requires adjustments while jumping out of our comfort zones.

No, I’m neither a vegan or a vegetarian; however, if I were to ever consider choosing to become either one of the two, I’d take being a vegetarian over a vegan simply because I could never imagine consuming ingredients strictly from plant sources only.

Dammit. I was gonna throw you some vegan in-jokes that only vegans would know. Like if you say, "veggie, no cheese" to a vegan they get it right away.

If you really cared about animals you wouldn't wear cotton clothes either, you'd run around naked. You know how many insects and small animals die in the production of cotton?

                        Nah, that’s a silly leap.
Word of advice: before you do the analogy, it only works if you espouse the position of the issue you’re giving yourself, otherwise it becomes insincere and thus, meaningless. This would only work if you yourself avoid cotton for the reasons you mentioned.
You’ve did this before with “don’t you kill ants by walking?” So you avoid every ant when you walk? No you don’t. You don’t even try with cows and chickens.
Example: a person big on eco-friendliness is called a hypocrite for driving a car…from a person who DRIVES A CAR! It doesn’t work. The latter person just gives
                        less ****s
                        , is all.

It's called sarcasm when you falsely pretend to support a position you want to ridicule. Gay males are adept at sarcasm. It's camp. Do you not understand sarcasm? It's a way to point out the flaws in your opponent's argument.
Dude, if you're staring down at the ground looking to avoid every ant, you illustrate the entire futility of your position - it's anti-human, it's anti-progress, cowardly, hippy dippy allover the place.
So you walk around with your head down? Hold your head up!

I'm an omnivore. I did an austere vegan diet for about a year back in the day, no dairy or eggs and no wheat products either. I lost too much weight though.
I'd say everyone should do vegan fasts every 6 months or so to flush out the system.

Wouldn’t a vegetarian diet be able to flush out one’s system as well though?

No, because the dairy products and the gluten in wheat produce gunk. To do it right you eat only fruit and vegetables.
You should check out this guy, Arnold Ehret. His is the vegan diet I did.
