Thank you ms_sunshine: I'm no longer "afraid" to try new things. Unfortunately I'm as messy as ever, just seems like I can't cook or eat without getting the stuff all over myself, the floor, the ceilings and sometimes the wicked kitties. On top of all that, I think I'm starting to get senile - oh well, I'll have fun on my way to oblivion.

I don't mind the cooking, it's the cleaning up after myself
Maybe you could try what I doclean as you go. While I'm waiting for water to boil, frying pans to heat up, etc., I wash the pots, pans, bowls and utensils that were used previously. It saves having a huge mess at the end of the meal.

Socks - You sound like Martha Stewart!!!! She was always advising people to clean as they go. I used to love her TV show, her voice relaxed me and her advise was good and I always resolved to try to be like her -
of course that didn't happen.

I loved Martha's live show and watched it every day. She had (for the most part) interesting segments and guests. And i loved that the guests didn't just sit and talk about themselves or their latest project, they had to cook or do a craft with her.
I'm not as in love with her taped cooking shows for some reason. It feels too bland and rehearsed. I liked the live show because it felt so spontaneous and fun.

falconefans : I used to especially love the month of October because she devoted the whole month to Halloween things, it was great fun. I loved her glitter pumpkins but with all the cats I've always had, I have to avoid glitter. I felt I had found a kindred spirit because she seems to love Halloween as much as I do.
I miss her live show.

I think we got to see more of her personality come through with the live shows.
For me the best episodes/segments was when she had her mom Big Martha on. I loved their relationship so much. I also love when Lidia has her mother on and calls her "grandma." It doesn't matter who you are or what your ethnicity is, it just warms my heart to see generations of a family so connected.

Any kind of housecleaning is a pain ms_sunshine. The wicked kitties usually get involved in anything I do and some days I get so frustrated I just say F&ck it and throw up my hands and stop what I'm doing. I know, I know I'm teaching the kitties bad language

I have never been a "Suzy Homemaker" (my older sister was the opposite, super clean, good cook could sew and do crafts etc.) it doesn't take much to distract me i.e. a book, something on TV, cat mischief. I don't love cooking but I do it because it must be done and WKD and I like to eat. I always make a mess, if I open something, it always seems to squirt all over me, I drop things on the floor & step in it - all kinds of messy things happen and when I eat, no matter how careful I am - something ends up on the front of my shirt. WKD can eat things like spaghetti and not get anything on himself. Sometimes its frustrating. I always admired the way Martha Stewart did things without making a big mess, oh well I am what I am.

I'm exactly the same way wkm. Everything winds up on my shirt, pants or on the floor. My family can tell if I've sneaked off for some kind of treat food just by looking at my clothes.
You know what? As long as you're happy with what you've cooked and both you and wkd are content, then it doesn't matter what happens along the way.
oh well I am what I am.

Same for me. I envy people who can get through a meal without spilling something on themselves.
I also would love to be a clean as i go person, but i just let them all pile up and do dishes once. The only time i clean as i go if i need that mixing bowl or measuring spoon that's in the sink.

Messy People Unite!!!!
I sometimes think messy people are happier than people who keep everything pristine, we don't sweat the small stuff. Also, if you need a snack , you can find one on your shirt.
People used to tell me they could eat off my sister's floor so I would tell them they could eat things off my floor.

If he were my husband, I would slip him something to knock him out and shave off the beard, he would look younger, be more kissable and probably be more comfortable.
My husband grew a beard when we were first married, he said he was tired of shaving so I wouldn't kiss him because I told him his beard left a "rug burn " on my face.

He needs a trim, but the fur actually enhances his face. I've seen him without the beard and I just can't get used to it.
I think my hubby puts conditioner on his! But it's his face, so I let him do what he wants with it. At least he hasn't gotten that tattoo he's threatened the one where there's a little guy mowing around the edge of the bald spot!

Well, I always liked that play "Lysistrata", I didn't go that far but when he did insist that it was his face to do as he wished, I told him my pits and legs were to do as I wished and I would go "cavewoman" on him. That ended that discussion.
p.s. when I told him what he would have to do for a young woman nowadays, he turned pale.

That was just uncalled for! Scare the poor man white as a sheet!
