I remember seeing Fruit Jello when I was young too, and not liking it much.
        Still don't.
But I WILL say I enjoy Lime Jello with diced canned pears. That is the exception, its yummy.

            fondue
Good call there. I NEVER quite understood fondue either.
I used to help older people clean out their homes when they moved or were doing a heavy Spring Cleanup, and it seemed like every person born in the '50s or '60s had a fondue pot..or three..lying around.

I have one that belonged to my mother.
I've yet to use it though.
I've not thought to use it as a dip for cheesesteakshmmm!
What kinds of cheese do you like to melt for the fondue, nutsberry?

Sorry, they weren't strange, but i'd like to share anyway
Enchilada cassies, chicos and beans, homemade beef and bean burritos w/ homemade tortillas, tuna noodle cassies, hamburger fried rices, (just hamburger, onion, rice, and soy topped w/ green onions) chicken and rice cassies w/ cream soups mixed in.
We also had lots of stews, and soups, Americanized tacos., spaghetti casseroles. scrambled eggs with potatoes, homemade hamburger red and green chili, Spanish rice. ,and some Hamburger Helpers. The crock pot was a big deal too.
Dessert was usually lemon, or orange cake from a box with a drizzle of powdered sugar, mixed w/ a lil almond flavoring, or oatmeal cookies BC they were cheap. We also used the "Jiffy" mixes, and "Bisquick" mixes., BC they too were cheap. Powdered eggs, and milk too., along w/ government cheese (soooo good), canned meats. (commodities). Mom always used the fat from the meat drippings to save more money to fry or bake w like biscuits or like I mentioned earlier homemade torts.. Pure Deliciousness! We seldom drank soda, but mostly milk, and iced teas.
Good Times, smells, and memories. I grew up in the 70's. early 80's. We ate out sometimes at places like; the Royal Fork Restaurant, Big Boy's, Smorgasbord Restaurant, Pizza Hut Buffets, McDonald's happy meals(if we were super-good)., and Taco House.
My Dad was a painter, and Mom was a stay @ home. Sometimes work was seasonal, sometimes real steady. I want to go back

I didn't care for the government cheese (we ate a lot of it for about a year, after my dad was laid up w/ a back injury).
But I LOVED government butterit came in a 1 pound brick. Still the best butter I have ever tasted.still!

I hate tuna fish so that wouldn't appeal anyway, but it still looks frightening there lol!
I love bacon but that doesn't look so great either.

Seems like every family I knew growing up made Green Bean casserole with the fried onions on top.

I remember seeing recipes for that EVERYWHERE for a while!
I never made it, but I did have it served to me once at a friend's house for Christmas dinner.
I hated it, but I ate it to be polite.

I was very curious as to what Tomato Soup Salad could be, so I Googled it.
I kinda see what you mean. It doesn't sound very appetizing to me either.

I'm not sure if anyone else was eating this, but my mom used to make me mashed potatoes with sugar. And I'm not talking a pinch of sugar to bring out the flavor, I mean she fed me sweet, sugary mashed potatoes.
In her defense, this was way way before people realized that white sugar is bad for you. I haven't had sugar mashed potatoes since then, but my love for mashed potatoes is still going strong.
