Yesss, it’s wild how this fact has been dressed up for… centuries. Alcohol will never not be a poison, even if the drink itself has healthy components (antioxidants in wine).
I quit it (almost) entirely and I never hear the end of it from my family

They call me boring for (almost) never drinking with them, which I have accepted. Almost*, bc I drink wine during Orthodox holidays to appease the religious folks who think it’s mandatory. Even then, it’s not to the point of drunkenness.
