okay, then it applies. just make sure you keep the windows on the top floor open so the hot air can circulate out. you don't always need to keep the bottom floor windows completely open this way (you can keep the sun out).

Why are you talking to me like this is the first heatwave I am experiencing?

What kind of AC unit? I had to buy a portable one for my upstairs. It's a one-hose exhaust that goes out the window but I had to buy weather proof tape to seal up the window to keep the humidity out.

Wdym what kind of ac unit?
            Idk
It blows out cool air, has a fan, and also a dehumidifier. It's also "portable", but it's the size of a bedside cabinet πŸ˜‚

I mean there's window units, or single hose portable, or double hose portable.
If you have a single hose portable, you have to make sure there is no unsealed crevice anywhere because single hose AC units create negative pressure and it will just bring in outside air to the room(and all the outside humidity with it).

It comes with an extraction hose and claims that it's an easy installation. It's gonna be a pain in the ass, isn't it

Depends on the brand I guess. Mine was a bit annoying but I bought this tape:
                    https://www.amazon.com/XFasten-Transparent-Weather-Sealing-Isolation/dp/B07PDRY2T2
I used this to seal up the window where the hose is set up. I just put the tape anywhere that I thought might have air leaking inside and that solved all the issues with negative pressure bringing humidity in. You'll know it's all sealed when you try to slowly close the room's door and you can feel the negative pressure trying to suck the door back into the room.
Of course it will be a pain to take it down later if I want to use the window normally but that might not be a problem for you. I have vertical sliding windows and they didn't play nice with my AC unit's hose so I had to use a lot of tape. If you have normal windows it'll be ALOT easier to tape up the gaps.

it's a good idea to insulate the hose too

πŸ™„ It isn't so much the heat but the humidity. It's so gross and putting a bowl of ice in front of the fan just isn't cutting it anymore.

                                          is all humidity created equal?
it's currently 30C and this is at around 26 degrees N. you are around 54 N. to have air temps this close yet sep by almost 3000 miles away from equator, is proof global temps messed up. i think by definition the further you move from the equator the composite, cumulative temp decreases
humidty right now is around 68%. ive been in england and scotland and blablaland, and south florida humidity is worse. moisture is moisture but to my body there is a physical difference between this humidity and european version.
