When I was a young child, one of these things saved my entire family. Carbon monoxide is such a ****ty way to go, so boring.
    Stop.

No. I read the reviews for everything important I buy, and the last time I looked for one of these little ****ers I went on a days long odyssey into the bowels of Amazon and Reddit in search for the one true carbon monoxide detector that was not a piece of ****. I have no idea if the one I bought works, I forget the name of the brand my parents had years ago that did work, so no, I cannot assist you.
        Stop.

Ok. Stupid question maybe, but a carbon monoxide detector is not the same as a smoke detector?

It detects carbon monoxide, a colorless gas with no smell. A smoke detector detects smoke, which you’ll smell eventually but by then you may be ****ed.
            Stop.

I have one now…but not prior to the fire.
              Are you okay?

My house is all-electric. No need for CO detection. I have a single smoke detector in the middle of my small house.

Nope. We don't have a gas stove or anything of the sort and don't find it necessary.

They need to be installed in cars even more importantly than homes.

I had a few, but you have to replace them every few years and never bothered doing that.
