Overprescribing medication and incorrect diagnosis are not the same thing as a condition not existing. Bipolar used to be called manic depression and before that they would have used more archaic terms and thrown those already suffering into a madhouse. And
boiling bipolar down to people not managing to control their emotions is also ****ing stupid.

I know what bipolar is and used to be. You don’t have to explain it.
I truly wish people would STOP acting like managing your emotions is the easiest thing in the world. It’s not at all. Most people do it poorly, and that creates loads of drama and trauma in one’s life. I’d venture to guess that some of the behavior you’ve witnessed in your life that you might have deemed “crazy” would have been resolved had the person been removed from the context of the situation and sought treatment in therapy.
You also didn’t answer my question: Have you ever been on meds before? Because I have and I know what they’re like and I know what they’re used for and the why behind what they’re used for.

When you were growing up people had less information, data and research to base mental health opinions on. People are smarter now.

I just watched two videos of leaked audio conversations between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp that's used in their court case to prove that Johnny Depp was actually the victim in their marriage. Thank goodness I got away from trashy filmboards! Now I get to see what others were hiding from me because they didn't want nimda or his moderators to see.
I feel so sorry for Johnny.

I agree, it's just an excuse to be a hypocrite.
                        It's pathetic.

I don’t think it’s an excuse to be a hypocrite. Actually, I don’t really think it’s fake. However, I firmly believe it’s over-diagnosed and fetishized by the psychiatric community to sell pills.
Most people who try to argue with me on that have never actually dealt with, say, a schizophrenic or someone with a DSM disorder who has been institutionalized. And that makes sense, too, as it’s actually rare in people. I’ve had to deal with this quite a few people on my life.

Hmm…you said you're "not quite certain the disorder even exists", but you meant not at the estimated level. All I know is MissYumYum was a hypocrite on IMDb, and didn't come off as bipolar to me. Just judgmental and hypocritical.

The one thing you and no one else has talked about is the withdrawal from certain drugs that cause much more problems.

If they stopped overprescribing them in the first place, that wouldn’t be such an issue.
I remember when I was 23, I was on them for a month and they made me feel much worse. I chucked them out swiftly and never looked back.

Whether or not bipolar is an actual medical condition, I can't say. There may be some people who have such severe swings between 'high' and 'low' that they require medication.
But I think most these fools who say they are bipolar are just assholes making excuses for being assholes. "Oh, I'm a prick, but don't blame me, I'm sick!!! I'll be nice later."
And of course the pharmaceutical industry wants to make money off drugs so they're all for it!!!
Again though, there may be some people who have such a medical condition. But there's grown up a whole 'bipolar' culture around the idea which is a bunch of nonsense.

I guess you know nothing about it?
Bipolar doesn't mean you switch back and forth in a day. They may be level for years and will suddenly have a high that can last for a few months followed by a low.
It's not about having mood swings.
