— 6 years ago(December 12, 2019 04:54 PM)One of the saddest things I read was about a woman struggling with a condition, I guess we'd call it OCD maybe, where she had a compulsion to do certain rituals like switch the light on three times for example. The consequence of her not doing so, or so she imagined, was devastation. She would watch the news blaming herself for any major events that happened. Completely disabling for her.
I think most of us have a little OCD where we feel compelled to perform rituals but imagine thinking you could cause planes to crash. -

Yes, I can see where that would be incredibly incapacitating. It would also lead to that person essentially afraid of living, always fearing they caused some catastrophic world event. How frightening…as well as sad.

Another very sad story is of this woman that OCD so bad that her compulsions included excessive recycling because she was worried about the planet so much, she thought that if she didn't recycle as much as possible, it would cause irreparable damage to our planet. But then she realised that recycling wasn't enough to protect the planet, she was worried about all the animals as well because the animals were effected. That wasn't enough for her, she felt bad for eating any foods made from animals. She still had anxiety, she needed to do more I guess. She felt like still wasn't enough. She thought nothing was enough because the planet was overpopulated. She tried getting people to become vegans…
A lot of people are like her though. I feel sorry for them all too. They all should probably be medicated or something. -

No kidding? WOW! What's interesting is as I watched the video and heard her go through some of the symptoms, I couldn't help but think of the Joker.

I hope you give it a watch, Miley. It's a good video (regardless of who posts it). It's very simple, she explains things that most people don't understand, and I think you'll find some validation in her words demonstrating why you may do or feel the things you do. The doctor in the video puts things in very simple terms, and I think she also helps to offer up for those so-called "normal" folks to get an idea of what you have to face every day. It's very informative and very neutral, and she validates things you've brought up yourself.
I think by your watching it, it may actually help you find a little peace because she explains why "unaffected" people get frustrated and don't understand. You're smart enough to watch the video and garner what she's saying for yourself.
