It brings to mind the life is suffering rhetoric that Jordan Peterson preaches. I'm sure Jung would have said something similar, but he'd have qualified or mitigated it. I'm pretty sure one should eschew suffering, but the miserable ***** – like Peterson – really want everyone else to be miserable like them.
