they are definitely here, we know that much for certain. i've always wondered why they don't help us and i think i now know why. it's because they are ai without any emotions. but we are not a threat so they have no reason to kill us. we're basically just ants to them. other ai would be a threat. they know that. that's why they have an incentive to visit earth. to monitor intelligent lifeforms that are near development of ai. they won't allow that threat to take hold. they are probably reading this right now so be on your best behavior.

Two (perhaps overlapping) theories:
- The aliens are time-traveling humans from the future, visiting us as a sort of living history museum.
- The aliens are cryptids and their return to their own/other planets explain the lack of physical evidence for Bigfoot, et al.

Earth has plenty of water.
I believe aliens use the hydrogen from water to energize their space vehicles. They tend to be around water (and nuclear sites) a lot.
Earth = Filling Station
Humans are batsh*t crazy and dangerous. They avoid us while filling up their tanks.
