I'm afraid people are going to view this fella as a real life Bruce, and hunt the guy down. They're tracking him down, north of New York….just in time for the holiday weekend.
Lots of White Sharks being reported all along the East Coast up to CT, MA and NH.

Sharks are awesome, and should be respected and admired, not feared and hunted.

I totally agree. Once we humans enter the oceans, we are in THEIR homes, THEIR territory, and not our own. We need to respect them and play by their rules. Humans can be totally stupid and cruel and they tag on human intention/feelings onto an animal that is simply doing what a shark does. WE are the intruders.

The earth is everyone's home. People have the right to swim at a beach without worrying about a hungry shark looking for a meal. That's why the sharks have tagging devices on them. It's so that authorities can keep track of their whereabouts to keep everyone safe. The article doesn't say anything about the shark being in danger.

People could get a false sense of security by relying on that tracking… they could see that Cabot is out past Montauk, then think it's completely safe to go splashing around in L.I. Sound, only to be gobbled up by an even bigger shark.
              Funny… hungry
              just can't admit
              he's been crushed.

What brought that on? Surely you aren't planning to go swimming out in the Hamptons this weekend.

Sharks are always in danger of over zealous humans. Perhaps the humans who have the same sense of entitlement as JNF?

Good point. We don't have a right to swim in the ocean when we have pools to swim in
The ocean is dangerous anyway, regardless of sharks

I won't go crying to anyone. If I get stung by a jelly fish, it's my fault. I take responsibility for my own actions.
But I've never been stung by one, cause I'm careful. On a trip to Florida my friend got stung twice, but I did not. I was just a bit more careful than she was. And after she got stung, I took point, and using a water toy, fended off the rest of them.
And BTW, saying we shouldn't venture into the ocean cause it's not our domain is like saying we shouldn't go into the forest, or a desert, or to Antarctica, or climb a mountain. None of those areas are truly our domain, and they're all dangerous. But we
go anyway because it's our nature, to explore and enjoy all areas of the earth. We go because they are there. It's in our DNA, and it's the same with the ocean.
We even sailed west on the Atlantic Ocean when some people thought we would fall off the edge of the Earth. We didn't. Instead, we discovered the new world.

People are going to do what they want and we're all going to die. I'm kinda like my dad, I think. He was dying and refused to see a doctor.
Being careful is good, I didn't used to be but I'm better at it now. How was your friend after getting stung?

Exactly. It's just a matter of respect. Seems people feel entitled and superior thinking they have a "right" (which they also will back up even if it involves the eradication and hunting of a species living in that environment minding their own business) to go wherever they want.
While we're free to roam where we want, we must do so with respect to those that live where we're going. We wouldn't just feel entitled to go into a strangers home and start trashing the place, yet that's what we do when destroy the oceans or hunt whales or sharks who are just maintaining their own food chain.
It's just about respect. But that's in short supply.

                                          Bait and switch thread.
Nobody said anything about hunting down and killing sharks. The article talks about tagging the sharks to keep track of their whereabouts so when they are near humans at the beach, the lifeguards can alert swimmers.
                                          The sharks aren't being abused.
You are really freaking nuts. Use a article about actual animal abuse to preach about.
                                          Thank you.
