Yep, it's a dysgenic pressure. The Black Death killed off more stupid people than smart people, like Covid. We get smart enough over time to create medicine that ironically reverses the trend and makes us dumber.
Polygenic scores for educational attainment from England, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands over the centuries. Perhaps a 10 IQ point increase from 750-1750, mostly after 1350.
