Did you see/read where that gold medal winning boxer, Imane Khelif, is suing Elon Musk, Donald Trump and JK Rowling (among others) for tweeting comments re: questioning the Olympic fight legitimacy?
What really was disturbing is that when Angela Carini forfeited the fight after two punches in 47 seconds claiming she's never been hit that hard and held up her hands forming "XX" in protest,

was forced to publicly
apologize
to Khelif. As I see it, Carini was expressing herself and her frustration at what many around the world are viewing as an unfair situation. Forcing her to make a public apology after she forfeited a fight that she trained all her life for was such a PC publicity stunt.

The Commission might have held it over her head if she wanted to maintain her eligibility to participate in future fights. You know, good old-fashioned blackmail. It's being used a lot these days.

I also don't have quite the same visceral reaction as you do.
There are conditions which exist that make gender identification difficult that are legitimate. In cases like that, where someone has XY chromosomes but is presenting as a female externally but may have internal testes, for example, fine, live your life however you want, but I think you need to be honest about it, and I also think that people with these conditions need to forfeit participating in sports - especially combat sports. It may sound unfair, but so be it. Life's tough. Get a helmet.
Going through male puberty gives people like this an unfair advantage when it comes to sports in particular.
