How pivotal is having a star player like Messi or Zlatan? If you’ve got a guy several leagues above everyone else in some sports that’s massive.
Argentina will win. I don’t know anything about soccer but Messi’s a more seasoned player than the 23 year old Mbappe, he won’t get rattled. I suspect in this sport, that matters a lot and his team will not falter while the younger man’s nerves may fail him.
Argentina also appears to be the expected favorite to win this. That tells me all I need to know about the quality of the actual team; their reputation precedes them. They’ll win.

Having Messi in your team is huge. He's a 'false 9', which means he is a striker, but drops deep. He plays a free role and spends much of the game in defence and midfield, which makes his nigh on 800 goals all the more bizarre. He controls the entire match.
At his peak, he played with Xavi and Iniesta at Barca, also two of the greatest players ever. It was beautiful watching the triangle passing they used to do.

He's too good for the MLS. He has a good solid 2 years left in Europe at least
The $126m he earned in 2020 meant Messi earned $10.5m per month and a weekly wage of over $2.4m. Every day is like a lottery win for Messi, with daily earnings of $345,000.
Lol

He's 35 too, where footballers normally retire/drop down the leagues.
Though this is less of a thing now with nutrition, fitness etc of the modern era

Yes, I'm aware. I don't care deeply who wins, but I would like to see Argentina win as it may very likely be Messi's last World Cup.
How about the fact he'll be playing for Beckham next year?- It sure looks like it's dead. Let's eat. +

He has a similar low centre of gravity like Maradona had and extremely strong too. He also has this weird ability where the ball can be outwith his control, yet he still manages to freakishly get a touch and retain possession. It's like the ball can be within a 2 metre radius of him and nobody can get it.

Imagine he gets injured 8 minutes in
or sent off by an imfamy seeking ref in the 60th minute!
he will never emulate his cheating, drug addicted hero, no disrespect.
