The Reds will receive left-hander Andrew McKirahan and right-hander Carlos Portuondo from the Braves, in exchange for Phillips, who is scheduled to make $14 million this season, multiple big-league sources tell The Enquirer. The Reds are expected to pay the majority of Phillips' 2017 salary. More important for the Reds than the actual return of players is the opportunity it opens for its young middle infielders, Jose Peraza and Dilson Herrera. Peraza was acquired in the deal that sent Todd Frazier to the White Sox and Herrera was acquired at the trade deadline last August in return for Jay Bruce.

It's possible. They had the best record in the National League from the beginning of August until the end of the season last year, they have a lot of young talent and the addition of a veteran will only make them better. They also have Snitker as their coach now who did a really impressive job with the team last year after taking over for Gonzalez.
In a few years they will be at the top of the NL East, they have the best minor league in at least the National League if not all of baseball. -

As a Red fan gonna miss Brandon. But they have no room for a 35 yr old 2b now. He was a good red for many seasons. Great glove and a good stick and a funny teammate.
