Could anybody please explain to me exactly what happened with Prince Fielder, after the 2013 season (traded to Rangers) ???
Your team threw all that money at him, to pry him away from the Brewers after the 2011 season (not that we were going to be able to afford him, anyway), but then got rid of him after only two seasons.
I never heard any real explanations at the time, why you seemed to give up on him so quickly.
I know he didn't have stellar numbers for those two years, but he did average 27.5 homers, had over one hundred rbi's both years, hit .313 in 2012 (which was the single best year of his career, in that particular category), and of course, played all 162 games both years.
So what happened to change management's mind so quickly ???

He's retired and has a new cooking show on Netflix.

          Why Detroit traded him?
I always thought it was to make room for Miguel Cabrera. The Triple Crown winner could last longer at first than third. They had a cheap replacement at third in Nick Castellanos. They had Vic Martinez to DH. And Kinsler filled the hole at 2nd.
