Whatever yarn they try to spin it comes down to money. Simple as.
Basically, they want to force everyone to use either use their app or, and what I expect may result in a miraculous change of heart in a few months time, sign in via Facebook so we absolve any right to anonymity and therefore, perceived freedom of expression. This all gives IMDb the power to track users posting and viewing habits far more effectively so they can sell information to advertisers.
There are a lot of people who use VPN's to mask their locations and IP addresses to ensure their privacy and security online and that limits IMDb / Amazons ability to compile and sell information and advertisers and big government's ability to police / big brother the internet and ultimately better inform big multi-national corporations who want a direct line into our wallets [read:souls].

You are right, it is another attack on freedom of speech from the government and large corporations. I have to say, this is getting scary. The elites are really cracking down on the freedom of speech right now and I am starting to worry that it will take a war to end this.

That aspect never even donned on me Mr. Brightside. but yes, I suspect from a revenue standpoint this could have something to do with it.
Well, they'll be terribly disappointed to know I dont connect ANYTHING to my facebook account. now if they allow it thru twitter too, I am less concerned with that.
