I seem to recall the heroine from the last one being captured. You'll have to slightly edit your statement to receive an answer to your question.

I seem to recall that heroine escaping using jedi mind tricks that she somehow mastered in seconds despite not knowing what a jedi mind trick was much less ever receiving the most basic instruction in how to trick a mind the jedi way.
Hell an 80's style training montage or scene of the chick watching a hologram video entitled "Mastering the Force for Dummies" would have been better than "Tee hee I'm the most powerful person in the universe no explanation needed because star wars fanboys are actually that simple minded tee hee"

I think they're going to reveal more of her backstory in the next film.
        Maybe she has had training?
TFA was good, my problems with it were it was basically a remake of the first and the characters acted a little too 2016 Planet Earth as opposed to Star Warsy IMO.
I enjoyed it but I hope in the next one they do something new.

But you said she defeated everyone in seconds.
She did not. She was knocked out and captured.
"Shes not a Mary Sue, said Trump. She was a Mary Sue because she was captured. I like people who werent captured.

I really enjoyed the majority of the movie. I felt some of the actions scenes were hampered by them always cutting away to show what was happening elsewhere (which is becoming quite a problem with movies these days). I would've loved to have seen the shot where Jyn and the rest of Rogue Squadron are charging out of that tunnel while evading the AT-AT's blasters that was in the first teaser trailer back in April.
It wasn't as good as Force Awakens (which is the second best Star Wars movie IMO) but it still had great scenes like Vader's scene at the end, the battle on Jedha and
the Death Star blowing up the Imperial Archive while Jyn and Cassian sit on the beach and have a moment together before being incinerated
. I loved how the movie looked like a very gritty and "grounded" version of Star Wars and how everything looked like it came straight from the 70s/80s.
I kind of wish we get more of these kinds of Star Wars movies where they focus on the actual Wars aspect of Star Wars, and maybe even make a live action version of the Clone Wars.

Actually focusing on the war was a great idea and brought a grounded feeling to things, we always see Troopers or rebels getting shot and think nothing of it but now we saw them up close and it and knew some of them.
The visuals were great as well,
the Jeddha destruction scene with the debris going into space was incredible, never seen anything like that in Star Wars, same with
corvette ramming the Star Destroyer, I love seeing things brand new in SW so yeah, more of that!
              What's up white people.

Really good, probably my favourite one. I've not seen Episodes 2 or 3 but I'm told I'm not missing much.

I absolutely loved what they did with Grand Moff Tarkin and also Darth Vader's final scene in the movie which I think was Freaking Awesome.

I thought it was quite good, particularly the 3rd act. Surprised how great the visuals were, considering in Edwards' last film you could barely see anything at all.
Considerably better than The Force Awakens in my opinion. Outside of the nostalgia of seeing Ford and others in old roles, I honestly didn't really see what people liked about that one so much. Thought it was just adequate entertainment that was hampered by a few poor performances (especially a horrific Boyega) and a miscast Oscar Issac. (I love Issac, but he's the last guy I would cast as an enthusiastically optimistic hero type)

Gotta tell you, I can barely remember the last one it was so ordinary.
Feel like I'd better watch that one again first.
No way I'll see it in the theater, luckily that's what I did last time around.
Relax, all right? My old man is a TV repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it!

Finally got to see it Monday night. It made me want to revisit my copies of the original trilogy on Blu-ray. Not the best Star Wars by any means, but certainly not the worst. The ending battle scenes are worth the price of admission alone. 8/10

I went the other night with my brother. Both forty-somethings raised on Star Wars, huge fans in our childhood and still retain a certain loyalty to the franchise despite the prequels.
Anyway, I thought it was bloody marvellous - genuinely hugely better than I was anticipating - and he was pissed off at how underwhelmed he was. So make of that what you will.

I thought it was enjoyable but empty; however buoyed up I was on the leaving the cinema subsided fast and I've no real urge to watch it again.
                                    Rogue 1
is getting a fair amount of stick for the level of fan service in it - and it undeniably has a significant amount - but for me
                                    The Force Awakens
was completely overwhelmed by the level of fan service shoe-horned into it and that movie was somewhat ruined by it.

I know what people mean when they say they enjoyed the latter half more. It started off with pacing issues, jumping from one planet to another with little in between. Once it settled down and started establishing the characters then it was very enjoyable. I probably enjoyed it more than the last one and possibly more than ROTJ. I guess time and multiple rewatches will give me the definite answer.
