lol my mom literally orders the same thing no matter which restaurant we choose. Thai food? Salmon. Sizzler? Salmon. Chinese restaurant? Salmon. I find it strange but maybe I will understand when I get to that age. She’s 82.

She may be OCD, ADHD, or have some minor neurodivergent condition where change is difficult for her. At 82 she’s not going to change . But you are a good and thoughtful son for buying her a replacement.

She knows what she likes, and at 82, she obviously knows what she can digest.
Most people with elderly parents understand these things.
It's nice to see you back. Good wishes to both you and your mother.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Then since old people really isn't your thing, but "dissing" them is, enjoy yourself…
Just remember, unless you plan a short life, you will be old one day.
It's not so bad… you get use to it.

Read the first sentence in your OP. You said you got her a toaster OVEN to replace her broken toaster.
Hence all the confusion and a zillion unnecessary posts before resolution.

why not get her another toaster?
Yah, a salmon toaster! That really would make her happy.
️
But the OP will probably force her to make steak with it.
Otherwise, she'll end up in a nursing home for being too rebellious. ☻
