I do not like hotels for extended stays. If it’s more than 2 days, it’s always a home.

hotels, then a guest house, then a private rental.
my decision calculus is simple: cost, location, ease of ingress/egress. if a hotel and flight deal is lowest, then i do that. when we visit spain we stay in a guest house: easy to get to, nice owners/staff. never done an airbnb or other private rental.
do you know of any NON airbnb sites? i know the booking.com etc have filter settings to include houses, but if it's cheaper to deal direct, **** expedia etal -

Hotels. Airbnb hosts are parasites who steal housing from real people that could be living there. They should all be killed, except for the ones who actually live in them and just rent out individual rooms.

I don’t use Airbnb. I don’t like how they operate. I either use reputable people who own and live part time in their homes, or through private referrals.

Home or cabin when traveling with significant other. I can do a hotel/motel for 1 night, but for longer I've come to the realization that I prefer a bedroom, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen or kitchenette to feel comfortable.
If i was traveling alone it wouldn't matter as long as it has a fridge and microwave. -

We recently stayed in a nice hotel for 2 days that had a separate sleeping suite, sitting area with a sofa and chair, and a fully stocked (dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc.), kitchen with a stove, microwave and refrigerator. It wasn’t a chain extended stay (I really hate those), really a nice place. But 2 days was all I could take. I like the privacy of a single-family, free- standing home.
