True dat. Been there, done that, too… when coming down steep hiking trails in the mountains near me. It's all you can do to keep from toppling over - and the situation is made all the worse when you are weighed down with a heavy pack on your back.

When I was more into weight training in HS, I couldn't get out of bed some mornings after a heavy workout because my muscles were so sore.

In my younger days, maybe. Now, no way.
PS But I did climb 366 steps to the top of Notre Dame in Paris in 2014. And in 2016 I climbed 276 steps to the top of a religious site in Peru.
