It had nothing to do with the story being so long and needing to be cut down for theatrical releases. That's a gross simplification of the problem. The real problem was that Warner Bros. hired a trailer editing company to cut the film to make it feel more fun and quirky after BVS got absolutely lambasted by critics and significantly underperformed at the boxoffice. They got so terrified after the near universe complaints of BVS being such a "grimdark" slog to get through that the studio actively cut out any and all substance from Suicide Squad in favor of creating a film that was "more fun." Which of course resulted in a film that played like a series of extended music videos with zero character development or connective story/character tissue. Basically Warner Bros. sabotaged their own movie by trying to chase trends after the film was already shot.

It has a kickass soundtrack instead of actual dialogue, it involves the least suited mission for a crew of largely non meta criminals, and for teh uber dark "batman cood get raped in prison" Synderverse, it's painfully tame and conventional for a Suicide Squad movie. Glad you enjoyed it, but my God have they f-cked the dog (or however that saying goes) with the DC Universe. Sadly, it doesn't look like they'll be turning it around either.

I watched the the opening of it. It was so badly edited with musical choices that were so on the noise that it was laughable. Turned it off pretty quickly because that seemed like a pretty good indication of how much of a mess it was going to be, haven't tried watching it seen. Rarely does a movie so quickly alert you to how bad it might be as Suicide Squad does.

And once again you prove how much you have a terrible taste and try too hard to be a hipster, my dear friend.
Suicide Squad is an absolute garbage! Everything is so goddamn bad: characters, plot/story (LOL), editing, action, enemies and villains (LOL), music editing, pace, flashback
And of course, it has the WORST JOKER EVER!!! Holy crap! What the hell was that?!
Really not that bad.
I mean, it wasn't great or anything, but
it was a fun couple of hours
.
No idea what all the hate and drama is about.
ROFLCOPTER!!!!!

No idea what all the hate and drama is about.
What drama? There's really no drama over it other than butthurt DC fanboys being unable to accept that most people thought the movie sucked. And at this point DC fanboys will defend anything no matter what because they seem to be desperate for their "universe" to be taken seriously. -

Odd. I read all the noise and whinging around release as DC fanboys mad that the film sucked and bitching about the extended universe not being basically I remake of Dark Knight.
They certainly seem to have read enough of the comics (that they constantly moaned about this being so unlike). -

Most the DC Fanboy whining that I see on the internet, and especially on IMDB, are people bitching about how "misunderstood" DC films are, how Disney pays off critics to praise marvel, and how people only hate the DC films because they aren't "fun and colorful like marvel movies." Basically it's a bunch of whining because people crap on the thing they like because they're fanboys.

Yeah I've seen that too, but Suicide Squad was torn apart by all levels of fandom and it's just not deserved.
Compared to the Great from marvel in it falls way, way short. But it's better than, say, Thor 2, about on a par with the first Captain America.
So at the bottom end, but in no way deserving of the kind of vitriol that was hurled it's way.
Compared to the two recent Superman movies it's a f-cking masterpiece. -

Thor 2 is a sh!t movie, so that's not saying a lot, and it's nowhere near on par with the first Captain America movie purely by virtue of the first Captain America having narrative cohesion, character development, and coherent editing that doesn't rely on inserting music videos in lieu of character development and dialogue every few minutes.

But Thor 2 wasn't hailed as one of the worst films ever made and, yeah, Captain America has all that - and is boring as f-ck.
It's a knockabout action movie. Guy Ritchie has been supplanting music videos for plot/character/dialogue from day one and incites no where near the hate that Suicide Squad does.
Basically. SSs flaws are offset by is own mindless level of superficial entertainment.
Moreover, those flaws (and more) are present in films that get nowhere near the reaction that it did.
Again, it's not a very good movie but, even in a 'rotten tomatoes' world, I don't judge my enjoyment of something on a two point scale. -

Captain America even if it's boring, which I don't think it is, is still on a technical and structural level worlds better than suicide squad.
Guy Ritchie's movies weren't re-edited at the request of the studio by a trailer house with no input from the director.
Arguing that a movie is "dumb fun" focusing on superficial, mindless entertainment and therefore is exempt from criticism as you seem to be doing makes no logical sense and just gives the impression that so long as a movie has a suitable enough amount of action you'll like it regardless of any flaws. Which I'm sorry to say calls your sense of taste into question.
On top of all that I don't think anybody outside of IMDB, where hyperbole is the norm, has ever claimed that suicide squad is genuinely "one of the worst films ever."
I don't understand your point about judging things on a two point scale. What does that even mean?
