What a stupid comparison! By Yoss no less, of course that the 3DS was bound to surpass the sales of the PS2 in Japan, but Yoss forgets that Sony stopped production of PS2 consoles like nearly 4 years ago while Nintendo hasn't stopped production of the 3DS.

The PS2 was on the market for about twelve years, while the 3DS has been on the market for less than six. The PS2 is not some random console. It's the best selling home console of all-time, and by quite a lot - as in, more than fifty million more than the second best selling. You're seriously going to argue that it's not newsworthy?

Not saying that is not newsworthy, but you how Japanese gamers kinda been preferring mobile games over console games or PC games and like I said is not like Sony PlayStation is still manufacturing PS2 consoles.

Uh-huh. It's still news and it's pretty impressive, regardless of how much Japan prefers portable gaming. The PS2, which was on the market longer than any other console to date (even in Japan), is still the best selling home console in Japan an was, until now, the third best selling console ever in that region. This is news because it's an impressive feat.
