And everyone else too, reaching the big 5 0 0 0 (but people can still sign after the goal is reached)

But I doubt it will do any good.
I'm sure IMDB is too CHEAP to keep the boards going. Just imagine the size of the message board content. They can make a lot more money (because we know that's what it always comes down to) but getting rid of the boards.
Problem is, once they do that, traffic is going to drop of SIGNIFICANTLY. I won't be coming here and I'll be deleting the apps from my phone and tablet.
Once that happens, their revenue stream is going to be reduced.
They're basically killing their cash cow in for the sake of greed.
Too bad. Really BAD business decision.
Trolls may be their excuse but we all know there are plenty of ways to control that to a manageable level. No way to eliminate it but you can reduce it. That's how you can tell it's just an EXCUSE.
The real reason is to dump all of the message board content, bring their server usage to a more manageable level and (they think) increase their profits.
Just watch them start to eliminate content that isn't getting enough "hits". Like obscure or foreign films, deceased b list actors. As traffic sinks and revenue with it they'll start to delete content in an attempt to keep the cash flowing.
What a pity. -

Its at 7054 signatures right now, but thats just a drop in the bucket as
to what it would take to get the big money corp to change their mind.
Charge everybody ten bucks a year! I'd pay it.
Pffft, my suspension of disbelief has higher standards than that. -

If IMDB themselves made a poll of course the number would be greater than that, it's still pretty good for someone with 28 friends on facebook and 12 followers on twitter.

I don't want the boards to go away.
But if they do have any you tried some of the other sites? Not as good as IMDB but at least you can have discussions with other people. Here are some of them.
http://nytramsplace.activeboard.com/
http://area51.boardhost.com/
http://thegotboard.com/
http://imdb2.freeforums.net/
https://www.imdforums.com/
My guess is if enough people from IMDB sigh up for these sites they will only get better. If you like message boards it is better than nothing. -

Signed and promoted it in few places. I will keep posting this petition. Informing people about it.
I went to a couple of active boards about TV shows or movies and I let people know. Everyone who love these boards should do same.
If they close these boards, this will go down as one of the stupidest decision in web management history. Up there with friendster.com decision to become a gaming website and removing actual active users contents.
Anyone knows how to send feedback to the CEO/ Manager or whatever of IMDb.com? Whats his/her email? -

Excellent thank you very much for that
And yeah, I've started to wonder if perhaps there is a connection between false ratings and reviews that have caused IMDB's credibility to fall a bit and if the real reason of deleting the boards is to stop people from calling the filmmakers out (and subsequently IMDB themselves) for it.
It's not allowed to post peoples personal emails here and stuff so I'm playing it safe in terms of that, the creator is a public figure though so I can name him it's Col Needham he does have a facebook and a twitter and google etc which can be find via a simple search.
Although he's still a CEO for IMDB he is no longer the proper owner as Amazon bought it up 2 years ago, Jeff Bezos is the owner of Amazon (again a public figure).

I signed the petition. Even if it doesn't work it never hurts to try. Like other people have said I think this is a stupid decision and it's leaving a lot of people disappointed. I've used the boards for years, and have always loved getting to see what other people thought about a movie & sharing thoughts & opinions. Can't believe they're taking that away. Yeah- you can use other sites I guess, but it won't be the same.
