it also makes the characters extremely expressive and even manages to give Link an actual personality and the ability to convey emotionswhich is a first for this series
The "emotion" in The Wind Waker was way too heavy-handed and force-fed. Watch the scene of Link leaving Outset Island and waving goodbye to his grandma. You wouldn't admire it if you saw it in a Nickelodeon cartoon, and you certainly shouldn't admire it in The Wind Waker. It's just lazily-made rubbish.
The "emotions" that Link shows when he stands still aren't anything I'd call impressive, but a bigger point to make is that we shouldn't be looking
at
Link. We should be looking
through
him. The world around Link is the game's star, and that ought to be the focus. Link isn't exactly a great character, and that's fine if he remains the "link" between us and the game (not something to be stared at).
Also, let's not pretend Zelda on the N64 didn't have just as much in the way of animation. One feature reviewers praised back in 1998 was Ocarina of Time's step forward for facial animation. Many characters would show more than just a neutral face. Many characters were given body animations that were indicative of their personality in some way. If they seem "still" or wooden by 2016's standards, then it's not like The Wind Waker isn't the same way too. We should thank games like OoT for paving the way forward.
OoT also featured other animations that added to the expression or touch of realism in the game. They used motion-capture technology for animations such as the way Link mounts or dismounts his horse. Meanwhile a lot of the animations in The Wind Waker (especially in cutscenes) are laughably bad.

Forza Horizon 3 and Tiki Taka Football.
Also, got on the closed alpha for Steep and it's looking pretty decent so far, will be interesting to see how Ubi-cised it gets further down the line.

It ran for four days and I got the email a day from the end.
There's some real love for the mountains in what was there - the map is huge and beautifully empty - but you just imagine it with a milion ubi-icons littering it in the final game.

Forza Horizon 3. Just a really fun and beautiful arcade racer. Love it.
Gears 2. In preparation for 4 which I'll be getting at some point between now and Xmas.
140. Indie rhythm action platform thingy. Good music, which is a must for this sort of thing.
Dark Souls 3. Unlocking all areas again in NG+ ready for the dlc.

I grabbed Vanquish off PSN when it was $10 since I was sick of waiting for the PC port.
So far, it's the most I've liked any Platinum title. I may get back into MGS: Rising and a few of their other games after completing this. We'll see.
Current gen: Not much.I'm considering picking up either Mafia 3 or Doom. Which ever becomes cheap first. -
