The 1800s are my favorite timeperiod, so …Ridley Scott's
"The Duellists"
I've probably seen it more than any other flick; because sometimes I would run it 24/7 nonstop throughout an entire weekend.
It is studious and slow-paced like a painting.
The dialogue is sparse compared to the music and the action. The visual compositions are lush, deliberate, and antique; with an emphasis on natural daylight / changing light.
