The Revenant (2012) - not the one with DiCaprio in it.
While The Revenant is peppered with satire and humour, it gets dark quickly when it turns. At the end when you find out what's really been going on, conceptually it was disturbing. It's one of the few movies that gave me nightmares.

Indeed. Very dark humour. I'm fine with that since I have a warped sense of humour as it is. It was that ending,
on the plane, when they deployed them
. That's where you find the origin story, and it's pretty dang creepy.
