I love both these movies, with a slight preference for the Hitchcock film.
But I also bring up these two movies because I read these pompous essays dismissing Brian DePalma's film, accusing him of misogyny and never once do they seem to realize that Hitchcock's film is every bit as voyeuristic and creepy. I do love his movies, a lot, like everybody else, but it is not news that he put his actresses through hell and got a perverse satisfaction out of it, particularly Tipp Hedren in "The Birds". But these stuck up asshole so-called snob critics don't have the guts to say anything negative about Hitchcock because they are chicken $hit phonies.
And also who the **** cares if Brian DePalma has some perverse tendencies? I mean I don't really like Eli Roth, but expressing the darkness in your nature in a film is a lot healthier than becoming a menace to society.
Though I'll always wonder if Pier Passolini got himself killed for making the super transgressive "Salo".

Yeah, interesting they give one a pass and not the other.
Esp. now in this Woke #MeToo generation.
Another director is Kubrick and how he put Duvall through hell with a lot of terrorizing harassment for Shining.
An actor who abused an actress is Dustin to Streep for Kramer.
These guys are assholes and yet they somehow get forgiven and overlooked for their ****ty behavior towards women.
Perhaps at some point we will find out of a director who rapped an actress to make her rape victim character more authentic.

I am not a fan of Dustin Hoffman, with the sole exception of his performance in "Tootsie", which was comedy genius, just wonderful. Interesting how perhaps his best-loved character was the one who would have put him in touch with his feminine side.

          It is acting, bro.
I dunno if it would have gotten him in touch with his fem. side off set.

Well, Hoffman said that the Dorothy Michaels helped him get in touch with his feminine side and helped him to become more sensitive and in touch. I am just referring to what he himself has said.

              Oh OK.
I thought you were going off of speculation and didn't realize you got it from the sauce himself.
My bad and carry on bro!

I do like the "Go Tootsie Go" montage and when he meets his agent at the restaurant for the first time.
                  It is a fun film.

Hoffman was a revelation in Tootsie and a lot of that I feel would be to do with his own persona. If he wasn’t in touch with his feminine side, he wouldn’t have been able to transform Dorothy Michaels into the wonderful creature she was.

I’ve always liked Hoffman, though not all his films. I had a boy crush on him in KvK.

I had a friend who thought Hoffman was hot. I remember him referencing "Marathon Man" in particular.
I like him okay, but even though "Midnight Cowboy" is one of my favorite movies, I thought he kind of overdid his Rico Rizzo. What a name. Jon Voight makes the movie for me. I love Joe Buck for so many reasons.
