Yes, it was ridiculous and George Kennedy acted like he was a completely different character from the first 3 and was goofy.
It was entertaining enough, but the visual effects weren't on par with '77 either. After that first flight evading the missiles, who'd ever step foot back on that plane again to complete the journey?
I wanted to see more of that lady and her chihuahua.

Charo! We love Charo over here! Are you not familiar with her? If she has any claim to fame, it is that she appeared on "The Love Boat" eight times, more than any other star. I don't know how many times she appeared on "Fantasy Island". She was on "The Johnny Carson Show" over 45 times. She's been around. I got to see her play the guitar live when I went to Las Vegas.
Her appearance in 79 amounted to little more than a cameo, but, yeah, it's always good to see her!

I hadn't heard of her. I was hoping she'd stay on the Concorde and only pretended to get rid of her rat dog.
        Sylvia Kristel was lovely too.
I'm not sure if I like Delon. He was handsome, just seemed a bit aloof and arrogant.
The film also didn't kill of its passengers in mean nasty ways. The only death was that dude with the secret papers that got shot near the start and perhaps that guy who took the bribe money and the French pigs were chasing him across the tarmac at Charles de Gaulle in Paris. Oh, and Wicked Wagner at his own hands and none of them were done for shock value.
The assortment of passengers still don't top '75 though.

Delon is a very attractive man. Did you ever by any chance see "Purple Noon"? (1960) It's re-telling of the "Talented Mr. Ripley" story, done in Italy and it's a gorgeously shot movie. Mr. Delon is beautiful in that movie.
Having said that, I am not sexually attracted to him as he lacks that whatever ooomph that I would go for.
To be honest (and I am being very honest) here, I think George Kennedy would make a wonderful husband. He had some goofball lines in 79, like that bit about Eddie Albert having sex with the stewardess on the wing of the plane at half a mile up! Huh? Did I hear that right? And, Mr. Kennedy is what me and a couple of friends affectionately refer to as a "potato", meaning he looks like he could fart at any given moment. (Very juvenile over here!) But he is masculine and very good-natured and he would probably fun in bed. I don't think he's a bad-looking guy. He also looks like he would be a very giving type person. He gives off all kinds of good vibes. I have always had a fondness for George Kennedy. He even had a small part in the 1964 low-budget shocker, "Strait Jacket", directed by William Castle!

            I haven't seen
            Purple Noon
            . I don't think I've seen any of Delon's films apart from
            Airport '79
            .
Kennedy has a kind face, but I haven't once thought of him as being sexually appealing to me. He would be good for a hug though I'd say. He's is the 70's disaster movie king starring in many.
            Never forgot him in
            Earthquake
as the cop and rescuing that cute dog.
I recall his role in SJ. Mommmie Dearest had an axe to grind with him I think.

Yes, he's a nice guy with a kind face and would always be ready to give you a hug or a pep talk.
In "Earthquake", I always get a kick out of it when he can't stop staring at Victoria Principal's big boobs.

I always get a kick out of it when he can't stop staring at Victoria Principal's big boobs.
He was like a little boy here drooling at the mouth. While Marjoe was a psycho and he almost raped her, she was then carrying on like a little girl and Kennedy had to give her the puppy to console her like a kid, plus she was sitting on his lap in the vehicle.
I wonder if this is some sort of base breeder mating ritual or something, to act like children? It gets depicted a lot in movies regarding the het.
I watched it again last night. Haven't seen for ages. It was enjoyable and a lot of effort had gone into presenting this film. I jumped when the dam inspector opened the elevator and a rush of water with a dead man came pouring out onto him.
How horrible for that woman who had that pane of glass fall on her head and she had all these shards sticking out. In fact how horrible for most of those victims.
Violent earthquakes are devastating and it was a real enough depiction when I compare it to the NZ Christchurch earthquake in 2011. Many of the buildings just crumbled like fetta crushing people under them.
There appeared to be a scene missing on the version on here. I recall at the cinema there was a part with a plane that couldn't attempt to land and one of my little friends that was with us when we first saw it at the cinema, asked my dad how safe people were in the plane when the earthquake was happening.
All us kids were in awe and scared by the film.
                The Towering Inferno
tends to play out with more an air of self-importance and pomposity about itself.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Thank you for the "Airport" and "Five Easy Pieces" reminder. I enjoy the first one as pure escapism just fine and I like anything that Jack did in the early 70s. Karen Black's only Oscar nod. She did win the New York Film Critic's Best Supporting Actress award for her performance.
