I hope you're wrong about the last one. Technology can never replace real human contact.

I agree, but sometimes I notice that even when people are with each other they aren't really there. They are checking their phones and should there be a notification, forget the conversation.

Pennies… or, they will be soon. You can still use them here in the U.S., but the U.S. Mint has officially stopped minting them. They cost more to mint per unit than the dang thing is even worth.

What took you guys so long? Canada stopped producing them in 2012. Can't say I miss them though. I very rarely use cash of any kind because I only use Debit as a payment option.

I don't know why it's taken the U.S. so long. Nor do I know why we still go back and forth between Standard Time and Daylight Savings Time.
But yeah, I remember there used to be Canadian pennies. I still had some Canadian pennies saved up here at home until just recently. Saved them in my Canadian trip money from my visits to Vancouver over the years. I figured I'd find a way to spend them up in Canada some day. Then I found out Canada discontinued them years ago. I ended up throwing them in the garbage. Is the 1-dollar Loonie coin still used up there?

You could have still used those pennies. Even though they were discontinued, they are still legal tender (just like our one dollar and two dollar bills). Both the loonie and toonie are still in production. I think I've heard of a $5 coin being produced in the future.

Okay, but do your prices still ring up to the penny, or do they round up or down to the nearest nickel? (Gotta' ask my sister about that, lol). Yeah, I loved the loonies and toonies!

They ring up to the penny and round it up or down manually. That doesn't affect me though as I pay electronically. I really don't miss carrying cash. The only business I frequent that only accepts cash is my barber.

I always pay in cash for my haircuts… Don't necessarily need to, since they do take plastic, but it's just a force of habit for me. I can peel off a tip more easily, too, than having to enter it on the card reader screen.

The only bill I carry in my wallet is an old paper $50 dollar bill. I love the image on the back on it. I'll never spend it.

Oh, that's really awesome. Reminds me of my Canadian Maple Leaf gold coins: I'll never sell them. They're too beautiful for me to want to part with.
