So it all boils down to fungi! I love the stuff. Not to eat, but I find it fascinating.
Yah, mushrooms are amazing creatures. β

β

Neither animal nor plantβ¦the forest-internet.
I know that you know and I remember well our conversation about them last year.
During the video I caught myself thinking that mushrooms might be an as-yet-unrecognized intelligence carrying out a planned revenge on humans.
Revenge
is nonsense and probably
'inspired'
by the series
The Swarm
(2023) which I recently rewatched.

I should give that show a shot. It looks good!
You'll certainly enjoy it.
Science fiction
in the best sense of the term.
And actually more science than fiction.
For example the
'Fire Ice'
.

I don't mind mushrooms on a pizza, or chopped up raw in a salad, but if I eat too many they really give my guts hell.
Perhaps your guts know more than we did.
Magic Mushrooms 'Trip' Your Brain Out of Sync For Weeks
A study led by Washington University School of Medicine psychiatrist Joshua Siegel tracked brain changes in seven healthy adults before, during, and after taking a high dose of psilocybin, identifying disruptions in connectivity that persisted for weeks in some areas of the brain.

Actually I wanted to post this in

But only found the one with Jesus

Well, the boars are

The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross!
Have you read it? It's quite astounding.
You always have such interesting info!
Yep, I did read Mr. Allegroβ¦after that felt dizzy, without mushrooms. π₯΄
A great book with much academic language, many cross-references and historical explanations that actually make sense. Fortunately today there's the Internet.
The best info about mushrooms came from you (Merlin Sheldrake).
His
Entangled Life
is on my list. β

Chernobyl Created the World's Rarest Dogs
"The cities surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant were forced to abandon their pets during the worldβs worst nuclear disaster. Today, a population of incredible, radioactive dogs need your help. The dogs of Chernobyl receive NO medical care outside of what CFF brings to them, and you can be a part of that care."
Guten Morgen!

That video leaves you with a lot to think about.
Amazing, wonderful dogs, but the cats didn't do as well.
Well, cats
and
dogs struggle for their lives there.
Of course other animals too.
As said in the video, they didn't meet any dog older than 5 years.
Most of the dogs aren't older than 1-3 years.
No food and no vetβ¦even without radiation that shortens a pet's life immensely.
In one older video they said that cats don't grow up around Chernobyl.
In this video (4 years old) the cat looks like an adult.
And given the circumstances pretty goodβ¦I think.
But true, one good looking cat means nothing.
Hmmm, perhaps I'll make a longer
'research'
later.

Have a nice evening and happy weekend!

I get a hollow feeling in my gut seeing that ghost town, but it makes you realise that if humans disappeared from the Earth, nature in all its forms would take over very quickly.
I still have 7 chrysalises waiting to become butterflies and it's nearly at the shortest day, so not doing too badly!
Happy weekend to you too! -

It's difficult to find reliable info about Chernobyl's cats, but they do exist!
Clean Futures Fund
CFF (who created the dogs video above) estimates ca. 100 cats roam around.
https://www.cleanfutures.org/dogs-of-chernobyl/
No surprise that these cats are very shy, they don't want to become dog and wolf food.
β
Kittens without contact to people while they grew up, often have trust issues as adults too.
Trap-Neuter-and-Release-actions
don't make them people-friendly either.
How to count the cats there?!

They discovered some fungus around the Chernobyl area which manages to convert gamma radiation into an equivalent to solar radiation and it absorbs some of the more deadly stuff in the area.
It's still unknown how it came to be or how effective it will be in cleaning up the area to make it habitable again but it's going in the right direction.
Perhaps nature, cats and all, can all be part of the cleansing element which gets things going back to 'normal' again

Link? (fungus)
As explained in the OP's video, the area recovers even without that particular fungus.
Due to the long half-life of the radioactive elementsβ¦it just takes much time.
And because the entire ecosystem is complex (e.g. Wild Boar Paradox).
