So it all boils down to fungi! I love the stuff. Not to eat, but I find it fascinating.

Yah, mushrooms are amazing creatures. 🍄🍄🍄 ♥
      Neither animal nor plant…the forest-internet.
I know that you know and I remember well our conversation about them last year.
During the video I caught myself thinking that mushrooms might be an as-yet-unrecognized intelligence carrying out a planned revenge on humans.
      Revenge
      is nonsense and probably
      'inspired'
      by the series
      The Swarm
      (2023) which I recently rewatched.

          You'll certainly enjoy it.
          Science fiction
in the best sense of the term.
And actually more science than fiction.

You don't like any mushrooms at all? Either do I, but most people seem to and are surprised to find that out.

I don't mind mushrooms on a pizza, or chopped up raw in a salad, but if I eat too many they really give my guts hell.

Magic Mushrooms 'Trip' Your Brain Out of Sync For Weeks
A study led by Washington University School of Medicine psychiatrist Joshua Siegel tracked brain changes in seven healthy adults before, during, and after taking a high dose of psilocybin, identifying disruptions in connectivity that persisted for weeks in some areas of the brain.

"The cities surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant were forced to abandon their pets during the world’s worst nuclear disaster. Well, cats
                              and
dogs struggle for their lives there.
                              Of course other animals too.
As said in the video, they didn't meet any dog older than 5 years.
Most of the dogs aren't older than 1-3 years.
No food and no vet…even without radiation that shortens a pet's life immensely.
In one older video they said that cats don't grow up around Chernobyl.
In this video (4 years old) the cat looks like an adult.
And given the circumstances pretty good…I think.
But true, one good looking cat means nothing.
Hmmm, perhaps I'll make a longer
                              'research'

After the polling stations are closed on Sunday (European election).
                              Against all odds…
Have a nice evening and happy weekend! 🇳🇿 🦋

I get a hollow feeling in my gut seeing that ghost town, but it makes you realise that if humans disappeared from the Earth, nature in all its forms would take over very quickly.
I still have 7 chrysalises waiting to become butterflies and it's nearly at the shortest day, so not doing too badly!

They discovered some fungus around the Chernobyl area which manages to convert gamma radiation into an equivalent to solar radiation and it absorbs some of the more deadly stuff in the area.
It's still unknown how it came to be or how effective it will be in cleaning up the area to make it habitable again but it's going in the right direction.
Perhaps nature, cats and all, can all be part of the cleansing element which gets things going back to 'normal' again

                                      Link? (fungus)
As explained in the OP's video, the area recovers even without that particular fungus.
Due to the long half-life of the radioactive elements…it just takes much time.
And because the entire ecosystem is complex (e.g. Wild Boar Paradox).
