I think we were told a lot of silly things when we were kids, but we eventually grew up and realized that our grandparents (it was usually them, at least in my case) were just teasing. Knowing I simply loved horses to bits, whenever we'd all go on our Sunday drive after church, when we were driving by pastures, my grandfather would pipe up with, "Look! Look at all those horses!" (And they were cows, of course!) Of when we'd get flurries of dandelion fluff in the air, my grandfather (I'm noticing a trend here!) would say, "Look! It's snowing out in July!" He could be such a stinker, but he was the best stinker and the best grandfather I could ever, ever have asked for.
We also had Ovaltine, but that was more in my great-aunt's house or great-grandmother's house. I remember eating the powder raw!

falafel in a pita
we had a place which had falafel in pita, big basket of chips/fries, regular salad, and drink for under $10!
then chinese monkeys released covid as a way to test its lethality, and the place never recovered.
it closed.
very few falafel joints left.
