You can't ruin the legacy. The new show would either be good or not good. It wouldn't have any retroactive effect on the original.

I disagree as it could tarnish the name. Like how season 8 of GOT ruined the rest of the series.

it really didn’t though. What was filmed prior to season 8 remains the same and the franchise has thrived post season 8 as Knight Of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon are both extremely well received.

I’m rewatching GOT now (am on s3) and all I can think about is dread of how it ends and when I should stop watching.

But that was the ending the same show. A remake or reboot wouldn't affect the original Buffy's legacy. It would still be as good as it was.

Maybe but personally I prefer not to have a reboot.

I'm with you. No new remake or sequel has ever ruined just how good the original was. The Jaws sequels take nothing away from the original. The 2010 version of The Thing didn't ruin Carpenter's version. Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes hasn't hurt the original version either.

The 2011 The Thing prequel was so frakkin good! I love that movie. So well done how it leads directly into the '82 film seemlessly.

if the new show changes the ending that characters had in the original series and you find out about it even if you don't watch, it can kinda mess up the original imo.

To me, it'd be like the comics. I've found out about some of the Angel and Buffy stories following the end of their series that I didn't care for and that I thought were terrible, but they don't affect how I watch the original.

I’m actually relieved. I think sometimes it’s best to leave things as they are rather than rebooting and risk ruining the legacy.
Gellar is known almost exclusively as/from Buffy, and since she was going to be an executive producer, i doubt she would approve of any scripts or plots which would ruin " the legacy." and as long as some of the original producers/writers willing to reboot, i think this would have been a winner.
the show was solid Iconic-Icon with great mix of satire, comedy, drama, rom-com. I for one would have enjoyed all of that set in this totally dysfunctional time.
she's got some serious assets so maybe she'll invest a few million on a pilot and see if it can get picked up or even crowdfunded, with your contribution, not forthcoming.

I saw a Youtube thumbnail about how the Buffy revival had been cancelled and that its a good thing.
I did not watch the video but I agree, we need to stop going back to the past and write some new **** already.

I'll admit, I dont exaclty LIKE those people due to my belief that they look down on those on the spectrum like me, but I do agree with alot of what they say about the entertainment industry and DEI
It's kinda ironic, I will agree with them when they **** on Star Treck for including like 2 retarded autismo characters for DEI prposes, while at the same time being pretty offended by it
                                        its crazy it really is.

”woke” and “DEI” have been a part of Star Trek since the 60s. You can’t separate it
