Why did Lorrie ask Rocky what was wrong with his face?

Obviously she did.If she is going to talk to this chick and explain she has a son she wants her to go home to, the girl is going to want to know why he can't find one on his own. Plus, you know she would have to prepare the girl. Also, if she didn't prepare her, then when she sees Rocky for the first time, a casual "What is wrong with your face?" isn't the reaction she would have. She walks in and he turns and looks like that she would at least widen her eyes or gasp or something. It is human nature.

The prostitute does visibly react when she first sees Rocky. She gasps and her eyes widen.

Clearly that is not how it happened, and I don't see why you are so insistent that it would (or should) happen that way. The call girl is approached by someone who will pay her to go back home and service someone there, and it's a job, you don't ask questions.
And maybe some people would prepare the girl, but we're talking about Rusty. Remember the very first scene when she comes home with some guy, and Rocky comes out and tells her she's forgotten what they have to do that day. The guy is shocked, and says, "Jesus, who's that?" so clearly she didn't prepare him either. And she answers matter-of-factly, "my son". She loves Rocky and accepts how he looks and doesn't think about how others will react when they see him.

What "for so long"? All they showed was enough for Rusty to make the deal. And besides, we have already established that she is not the type to "prepare" someone for how her son looks. They could talked all night and Rusty would not have mentioned it.

fundamentally, this is such a stupid question. it's a movie about a boy with facial disfigurement. naturally, people are going to ask him. even if rusty explained this to the girl, it's a completely different animal when one sees rocky in personnot to mention they built rusty's entire character around her raising rocky to not "feel" different. then there's the old "it's a hollywood movie." boy has problem. boy meets girl. girl is hooker. hooker asks boy about face.

It's possible that Rusty told the girl in advance that her son had a deformed face, but that the girl was still shocked by the severity of Rocky's condition when she first visually encountered him.
Just because she was told about Rocky's face doesn't necessarily mean the girl was prepared for what she saw when she entered his room.
