For handguns you can't go wrong with any of the Beretta series. Easy to load, rarely jam and has all the components you want readily available. It's perfect as self defence and great for competitive shooting. Italian too (But made in the US).
A Magnum is great, but six shots with a lot of recoil and that long barrel makes for clumsy use in self defence. I think your Ohio MAGA was just trying to look hard as nails and wasn't being practical at all with it.
Glocks are fine, but they do jam up a touch more often. They are lighter than Berettas generally and so just ahead on the conceal front for that.
As for bringing a gun to the voting booths. I don't see why not, with the climate the way it is just now you can expect someone to be a little crazy - best to protect in that case. -

I have NEVER had a Glock or seen a Glock misfeed. Cops love 'em. As I see it, a Glock is like the AK47 of handguns. Reliable. I am just not crazy about what Glock calls a safety. I am done buying guns, but if I was to get another one, it would be a G17 or a G19. I originally went for the .40 because of the great nine vs .40 debate that was going on back then.
I have no Beretta experience at all, and I know that all you hear is good things about them, but as far as changing parts, you can have a Glock apart in literally seconds. And although I never went this route, you can drop a 357 Sig barrel into a Glock .40 and all other parts, including the mags, can remain the same.
Yeah, the Ohio audiophile was just trying to provoke a response. Make a statement. A revolver is one of the last things I want in a firefight, slightly behind a 1911. (In The Counselor, I think I remember that the driver of the stolen sewage truck with the cocaine in it was using a 1911, and that wouldn't be my choice if I was expecting a good chance of a gunfight, like I am sure he was, but a 1911 is pretty.) Why I own five revolvers (two of them being single actions, no less!) is a question I don't have a good answer for except to say that I used to be an impulse buyer and I liked the way they looked. At one time, I actually had two other revolvers that were guns that I also LEGALLY (meaning via a FFL) sold.
As far as barrel jump when you pull the trigger, one of the ones I got rid of was a Taurus Raging Bull, and it was actually pretty stable. Before I got that one, I had a Ruger Vaquero (a single action "cowboy gun", also in .44) and it was a riot to shoot. It wanted to twist like a mf when you pulled the trigger, and at night, a massive flash erupted from around the cylinder when it discharged. I got rid of it and replaced it (again, don't ask me why) with a Super Blackhawk. Which I still have, but I don't know why, except that it is beautiful looking handgun. The SBH has that satin finish.
As far as recoil, I don't own one, but the worst I ever experienced (and there may be worse) was a Smith .500 that a buddy of mine owns. I'd describe a .44 as "stinging a bit," but that .500 absolutely HURT from the wrist of my trigger hand all the way to my elbow. And yes, that is definitely a "two-handed" revolver. -

I had a .5 Desert Eagle for a couple of years. That kicked like nobodies business. You really had to lean in on that one. Too manly and stiff for me if I'm honest. Nice to have had the experience though and it felt like a proper gun too
Glock's don't jam a lot, just a little more than a Beretta from my experience. The last thing you want in a situation is a jam, so I minimise the chances - but it is already slim.
I'm not in for finishes or styling when it comes to guns or weapons. As long as they can do what they are meant to that's enough. Lots of people really go all out though and personalise them as someone might a fancy car -

I did point out that Rottenhouse chose an AR while Pretti only brought a 9mm, but Juan specifies a purely physical confrontation, and Pretti was a wild man, where Rottenhouse looked like a scared young punk when the show was over.

Pretti is a hook nose, or WAS a hook nose prick stain…a 9mm won't do **** vs Rittenhouse's AR-15. I'd dome that big nose MF from about 150 yards with mine and my scope. He wouldn't stand a chance.

Pay attention, ******; Juan specified a physical altercation and Rottenhouse looked like a scared young punk when he was crying to law enforcement after the dance.
Alex Pretti was fearless. He was a wild man. He would have put Rottenhouse in the hospital.
And by the way, your wife, Missus Week, says that you are soft and weak and also that you can't hit **** with your AR no matter how hard you try.
